Where do the market listings come from?

Market listings come from OpenStreetMap, the community-maintained map of the world, via the Overpass API. This includes farmers' markets, general markets, flea markets and similar. Attributes like the day of the week, indoor/outdoor and opening hours are whatever OSM contributors have tagged on each market.

How does the day-of-week filter work?

The app parses the OpenStreetMap opening_hours tag and works out which days of the week the market runs. Markets without an opening_hours tag cannot be filtered by day, so they show up under "Any day".

Does it cover the whole UK?

Accepted Answer

Yes — anywhere in the UK with a valid postcode is covered. Coverage density and the accuracy of day-of-week tags varies with how well the local area is mapped in OpenStreetMap.
